I love presenting at schools, libraries and conferences, and I enjoy teaching workshops for all ages, from children to college students to professionals.

In my presentations, I share my childhood love of making art, starting with lines and squiggles and then copying pages from my favorite childhood books, especially Richard Scarry. Although I loved books wildly, reading and writing was very challenging, until a highschool teacher showed me I could draw and sing and play with words, too. I share about my journey from art school to my career, and I talk about all the teachers and mentors who encouraged me along the way. I share photos, stories and sketchbooks from my international and domestic travels and personal life that inspire my books and art. I also discuss my process of writing and editing my stories and how making a dummy helps me to edit my stories even more. I also show rough sketches, refined sketches and final illustrations. When time permits, I love to create a collaborative drawing or painting with those attending.
