Welcome to my studio & Family Homestead in Northern New Mexico

I’m a Children’s Book author and illustrator.

When I was little, I copied art from picture books.
I treasured stories, but reading was excruciating, and writing impossible.

A life blessed with some amazing teachers helped me find joy in reading and my courage in writing.

My newest picture book, Like You, Like Me, is available now!

A pen pal picture book companion to the award-winning and bestselling Same, Same but Different—
set in America and Africa—that celebrates the value of compassion, curiosity, and a global community. 

Tulsi and Vanessa live on separate continents—one in the mountains in North America, and the other beside the sea in Africa. By exchanging letters, they learn that they both have prankster brothers, love music, and collect treasures from nature. Their daily sights and sounds may be different, but their feelings about their experiences hold many similarities.

This thoughtful story celebrates the connections between two kids who live worlds apart. Together they rejoice in their shared love of family, friends, and community.

New York City Children’s Theater created a wonderful virtual adaptation of my picture book, Same, Same but Different! What an honor to see my book come to life in this way. ❤️ I am in awe of NYCCT’s creative team and the care and passion they poured into this project: Written by Barbara Zinn Krieger and Maximillian Gill.
